Marissa Granted New Trial Press Release

  1. This FreeMarissa campaign is right on target. To me, it looks like the FL appellate court agreed that there was a miscarriage of justice when the Jacksonville, FL courts sentenced Marissa Alexander to 20 years in prison. Much like the judicial miscarriage of justice in Billings, MT when Judge Baugh sentenced convicted rapist Stacey Rambold to just 30 days in jail.

In Marissa Alexander's case, instructions apparantly given by the judge in this case basically ignored the circumstances of her self-defense. In Stacey Rambold's case, the judge re- victimized the victim and ignored the minimum sentence guidelines for any rape conviction in the state. Isn't it interesting that Marissa is a black woman and Stacey Rambold is a white man? What's wrong with this picture?

    1. It's my understanding that Marrissa had the opportunity to flee, when she went to her car and grabbed a pistol and re-entered the house and attempted to shoot the man who was assailing her. She went back! She had the chance to flee!

    3. she shouldn't even see the inside of a cell! you ask whats wrong with this picture? the "victim" was white, the shooter black. who the fuck cares if she went back into the house. obviously this a-hole would have kept repeating his abusive behavior whether this happened or not, once a woman beater, ALWAYS a woman beater. What gets me is how people like to blame the real victim, which is Marrisa!

    4. you dont have to run. the woman had the right to defend herself and she chose her method. if you want to run thats your thing. dont jump her for choosing not too
